The most-asked questions, answered

Sometimes, but not for long. A small chip or short crack outside your line of sight may be safe to drive briefly. Anything in your driver-side line of sight, anything that crosses the edge of the glass, or any crack longer than about 12 inches is a real safety problem. The windshield is structural. In a rollover it holds up to 60% of the roof’s strength, and in a frontal crash it backs the airbag deployment. Get a quote within a week for any crack longer than a quarter, and same-day for anything in your driver-side view. More on cracked windshield laws →
It comes down to size, location, and damage type. We can usually repair chips up to about the size of a quarter and cracks up to about 6 inches when they’re not in your line of sight or near the edge of the glass. Anything larger, anything in your driver-side view, more than three impact points, or damage at the edge usually means a full replacement. Repair is faster and cheaper, often free with insurance. Replacement takes about an hour and costs more, though most insurance plans cover it. More repair vs replace details →
Repair runs $50 to $100 out of pocket and is often free with insurance, since most carriers waive the deductible for repair. Replacement varies by vehicle. Standard sedans typically run $250 to $500 cash. Trucks, SUVs, EVs, and vehicles with rain sensors, HUD, or ADAS cameras run $400 to $1,200, plus calibration if required. With insurance you usually pay your deductible unless you have full glass coverage. In Arizona, drivers who elected zero-deductible glass coverage under A.R.S. §20-264 pay nothing. Yes. We’re mobile only. No shop, no waiting room, no driving across town. We come to your home, work, garage, parking lot, or wherever your vehicle is parked. The ideal spot is a level driveway, garage, or carport, but a low-traffic parking lot or quiet residential street works in most cases. More on mobile service →
Windshield replacement runs about 30 to 60 minutes, plus one hour of safe drive-away time before you can take the vehicle on the road. Chip repair takes 20 to 30 minutes and you can drive immediately. Side window replacement runs about an hour. If your vehicle needs ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement (most 2018 and newer vehicles in California do), add another 30 to 60 minutes. More on what to expect →
Often same-day for chip repair if we can fit it. Next-day for most replacements once your glass arrives. Most common windshields are in stock locally and ship within 24 hours. Specialty glass (rare imports, motorhomes, glass roofs, some EVs) can take 2 to 5 business days. Call us. We’ll be straight with you about the timeline.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) glass is made by the same manufacturer that supplied the glass to your vehicle’s automaker. OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) is made to the same federal safety standards by a different manufacturer. Both meet DOT FMVSS 205 and 212 requirements. OEE works for the vast majority of vehicles. OEM costs $200 to $500 more and is worth it for newer luxury vehicles, lease returns, or vehicles with very specific HUD or sensor calibration. Not when it’s installed correctly. We use OEM-grade urethane adhesive, prep the bonding surface to the manufacturer’s spec, and respect the one-hour minimum cure time before letting you drive. Customers come back months later in heavy rain and confirm zero leaks. One Google reviewer wrote “Going strong eight months later. With the recent rain, no leaks.” Our warranty covers any leak from our installation for as long as you own the vehicle. More on aftercare and warranty →
